2021 Crawford Family, Monarc, Los Olivos District

This is a special wine for us and is most likely a one-time thing.  It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvèdre which is not a normal thing for us, at all.  We have made Cabernet for a client for the last couple of years and despite it not fitting in with our cool climate approach, we have really liked the wine.  The Mourvèdre comes from Broken Oak vineyard which we’ve been making for the last 20+ years.  When the owners of the two vineyards got together and wanted to make a blend of their wines, we were happy to help.  The only caveat was, we get some of it!  We made a 100-case blend and we split it 33 cases each.  So, there’s not much to go around.  MONARC is an anagram for the two growers’ names, Norm and AC. Norm grows the Cabernet Sauvignon and AC grows the Mourvèdre.
